Emmy-nominated talk show “Mickey’s Corner,” hosted by IU alumnus Mickey Maurer, films a new episode Wednesday, bringing Maurer together with IU alumnus Will Shortz.
The show appears quarterly and is broadcast from the Arthur M. Glick Jewish Community Center in Indianapolis. The show has had guests ranging from Bob Knight to Sylvia Mcnair.
Shortz, the only person known to have a college degree in enigmatology – the study of puzzles – is known as the crossword puzzle editor for the New York Times.
This particular episode will utilize Shortz’s expertise. Maurer and Shortz will participate in a crossword duel and lead a similar event for the audience members.
“Since the audience members will be able to participate, I think this will be a fun event for everybody,” Maurer said.
Maurer, who is a fellow puzzle lover, said he knew Shortz from submitting numerous puzzles to the New York Times.
“I thought that he would present an interesting interview,” Maurer said.
