The longest running jazz concert series in Bloomington celebrates its 20th anniversary from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at Bear’s Place.
IU distinguished professor of music David Baker will be playing cello with his Septet, featuring Lida Baker on flute, series founder David Miller on trumpet, Tom Walsh on tenor sax, Luke Gillespie on piano, Jeremy Allen on bass and Deno Sanders on drums.
The group will be playing Baker’s original jazz compositions of classics and standards.
Baker and Miller performed as the first feature guests in September 1989. Miller originally founded Jazz Fables combo in 1977 with venues in the Indiana Memorial Union’s KIVA and the long-defunct Rapp’s Pizza Train.
Admission is $7.
