Songwriting competition extends deadline

The International Songwriting Competition has extended its deadline because of high demand from competitors.

The competition accepts entries from songwriters ranging from amateur to professional. Also, prizes total more than $150,000. The panel of 56 judges includes Kings of Leon, Journey and Rob Thomas, as well as music industry executives.

The new deadline is Dec. 2 at midnight EST and all the entries must be postmarked or sent online by this time. During the extended deadline period, the competition will offer special promotions and incentives.

Song entries can be in one of 21 categories including rock, country, folk, and jazz and competitors can submit as many songs as they want in each category or enter one song in several categories.
