The Brown County Playhouse in
Nashville, Ind., which is normally closed in the winter, will be open during
the holiday season.
The playhouse owned by IU Foundation
is open as a decision with the Brown County Convention and Visitors Bureau as a
response to the closing of the historic Little Nashville Opry after a fire in September.
Beginning Friday and continuing every
Friday until the end of the year, the Little Nashville Express Band will
perform at the playhouse with special performances on Thanksgiving and New Year’s
Eve.
The performances are from 8 to 11
p.m. but doors open at 7 p.m. and the New Year’s Eve performance will be at 9
p.m.
The playhouse is one of the
longest-running summer theaters in the Midwest and seats about 400. It serves
as a training ground for actors, directors and designers.
Tickets are $10 and can be bought
from the Brown County Visitors Bureau by calling 800-753-3255 or at the Brown County Playhouse
box office the day of the show starting at noon. Seating is general admission and concessions
are available before the show and during intermission.
