City announces Buskirk grant winners

The Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District and the City’s Parks and Recreation Department announced the winners of the 2010 Buskirk-Chumley Theater grants.

The grants allow nine local organizations and artists to have one day each to use the theater for programming free of charge.

Six of the nine winners were local music including Bloomington Area Music, Bloomington Community Band and Bloomington POPS.

Other winners are the Cardinal Stage Company, Community Kitchen of Monroe County, Inc., Community Foundation of Monroe County Community Schools, musician Krista Detor, Southern Indiana Youth Symphony, Inc and Timmy Foundation at Indiana University.

This is the second year for the grant program and information for the 2011 grants will be released in fall 2010.
