'Superb stand-up comic' Todd Glass will bring quick wit to Funny Bone

This weekend, “Last Comic Standing” finalist Todd Glass will bring his quick wit and easy-going style to the Funny Bone Bloomington Comedy Club for five performances.

“Todd Glass is another in a string of comedians where you go, ‘Really? In Bloomington? In a club?’” Thursday night host Brad Wilhelm said, explaining that Glass usually draws theater-sized crowds. “His stand-up is superlative. He is a superb stand-up comic.”

In addition to his own one-hour special on “Comedy Central Presents,” Glass’s credentials include appearances on shows like “Friends,” “Home Improvement”  and HBO’s “Mr. Show.” He has also performed on “The Sarah Silverman Show,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” among other talk shows.

For a sample of Glass’s work, his podcast, “Comedy and Everything Else,” is accessible through his Web site, in addition to videos of his various performances on YouTube and ComedyCentral.com. Club owner Jared Thompson described “Comedy and Everything Else” as one of the greatest comedy podcasts available today.

“It’s very highly regarded,” Thompson said. “Todd is known for being one of the best working comedians out there right now.”

Thompson added that Glass is recognized in part for his quick thinking and audience interaction.

Funny Bone regular and Bloomington local Ben Moore will be the feature performer this weekend.

“People who have not seen me before will be surprised,” he said. “It’s about being in your late twenties, looking for love… maybe having a minor drinking problem.”

Moore also recently made his radio debut on the Bob and Tom Show.

“I’ve been doing comedy here for a couple years,” Moore said. “People should come out to see me before I become too famous to talk to them.”

For Moore, performing with great comics like Glass is one of the main draws of the club.

“If you’re a fan of stand-up comedy, you’ll meet all your heroes eventually,” he said, “and Todd Glass is one of those heroes for me.”
