Real vampires return to the big screen

daybreak

It’s the year 2019, and an epidemic has caused more than half of the world’s population to transform into vampires.

With the human population nearly extinct and the blood supply dwindling, the vampires begin to panic. When deprived of blood for too long, the vampires will transform into deformed creatures that are driven by impulse to feed on anything.

Edward Dalton (Ethan Hawke), a hematologist working toward developing a blood substitute, has a change of heart. Hoping to save the human race, he pairs up with two humans, Audrey (Claudia Karvan) and Lionel (Willem Dafoe), to find the cure and attempt to change the vampires back to mortals.

The action-packed horror film offers a nice change of pace from the recently released “Twilight” saga.

If you’re tired of vampires being portrayed as handsome rather than scary and you’re in the mood for some gory action, “Daybreakers” would be worth your time.
