The IU men’s basketball team, mired in a four-game losing streak heading into Wednesday’s contest with the Ohio State Buckeyes, was looking for something to change.
What it got, though, was an eerily similar result.
The Hoosiers, trumped by the Buckeyes by 25 points Jan. 6, lost another one to their Big Ten rivals in meager fashion, 69-52 at Assembly Hall.
Freshman forward Christian Watford led the Hoosiers with 15 points and 7 rebounds, and freshman guard Jordan Hulls followed with 13 points.
Sophomore guard Verdell Jones led all players with 5 turnovers while shooting 4-of-11 from the field.
The Buckeyes were in foul trouble early, as guards Evan Turner and P.J. Hill each had at least two fouls before the first half’s midway point, but guard William Buford picked up the slack and scored a game-high 21 points.
The Hoosiers (9-14, 3-8) will return to action in Madison, Wisc. to take on the Badgers on Saturday.
