Coover tagged Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week

IU senior pole vaulter Jeff Coover was named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week after automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships at the Indiana Relays this past weekend, the conference announced Monday.

Coover’s 5.50-meter clearance tops the Big Ten’s second best height by seven inches and is third best in Division I this season.

With this week’s award, his fourth, Coover is tied with Aarik Wilson for the most in school history.

Yeagley names two assistants

IU men’s soccer coach Todd Yeagley announced Monday that Brian Maisonneuve and Ernie Yarborough, both former Hoosiers, will join him as assistant coaches.

Maisonneuve, who played at IU from 1991-94, most recently was the assistant coach at Louisville for two years. He went 24-11-4 overall in his time with the Cardinals.

Yarborough coached with Yeagley at Wisconsin last season and served as volunteer assistant coach for IU through three College Cup appearances in 1997-99.

Volleyball adds director of operations

The IU volleyball team has added former Morehead State assistant coach Kelsey Cronin as director of volleyball operations, IU Athletics announced Monday.
In her two seasons with Morehead State, Cronin went 44-19, advancing to the Ohio Valley Conference both years.
