Student supports Haiti with song

Amy C. Wolff, a graduate student in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, is working with a non-profit organization, the ZyOzy Foundation, to raise $30,000 to benefit the CARE Earthquake Relief Fund. How is she doing it?

Through song.

The Brighter Way Haiti Choir Citizen Effect project is centered around her video message, titled “Brighter Way.” Wolff’s video is a call for other choirs to create similar pieces.
Each unique video will be combined into a piece to be debuted on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and YouTube this Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.

The project was inspired by family friends who survived the 7.0 magnitude earthquake, Wolff said in a press release.

“The combination of music and investment in effective relief work like CARE provides will enable the story of Haiti to continue,” Wolff said. “We are committed to telling their story and the story of those suffering in poverty around the world.”

Three well-known choirs that plan to participate are The Rural Fund Children’s Choir from Uganda, Africa; the Crescendo Chorus from Connecticut; and the Voena Children’s Choir from California.
