Hoosiers’ game at Indiana State cancelled

The IU baseball team’s matchup against Indiana State on Tuesday has been cancelled due to unplayable field conditions at ISU. The game will not be rescheduled.
IU coach Tracy Smith’s team will still face the Sycamores on April 28 at Sembower Field in Bloomington.

The Hoosiers’ next game will be this weekend at the Music City Classic at Vanderbilt University. IU will face off against Illinois State, Kent State and Vanderbilt in the round-robin tournament.

IU names new offensive line coach

Myron Moriarity will become the new offensive line coach, IU coach Bill Lynch announced Monday. Moriarity takes the position Bobby Johnson left vacant after recently taking the assistant offensive line coaching job with the Buffalo Bills.
Moriarity has spent the last five years as Carmel High School’s head football coach and coached tight ends at IU from 2002-2004.

He is one of the state’s most successful coaches, going 241-56 (.811) in 25 years as head coach. Moriarity has also coached six undefeated teams.

“We are excited to have Mo join our staff,” IU coach Bill Lynch said. “He has been a proven winner through the years and shares my passion and vision for football here at Indiana University. Our offensive line will be well coached and fundamentally sound.”

Hoosiers honored with conference awards

Three IU women’s basketball players received Big Ten honors, the conference announced Monday.

Junior guard Jori Davis was named Second Team All-Big Ten from coaches and the media while senior guard Jamie Braun earned Third Team All-Big Ten from the media. Braun was named honorable mention All-Big Ten by the conference coaches. Junior guard Andrea McGuirt was recognized as IU’s Sportsmanship Award honoree.

Davis leads the Hoosiers in scoring the season, averaging 16.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. She became the 22nd IU player to reach 1,000 career points Sunday.

Braun, the lone senior on the Hoosier roster, averages 12.7 points and 5.7 rebounds.

She reached double-digits in scoring 21 times this season.
McGuirt started five of IU’s 29 games this season and averaged 2.6 points and 1.2 rebounds. She was named IU’s Sponsorship Award honoree based on sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
