We already know “Mad Men” is the best show on television, and season three is no different. The nuanced storytelling, intense acting and opportunity to step into another time makes the show worth buying. But the special features feel thin.
As season three dabbles in the Civil Rights Movement, so do the extras, which include a documentary on slain NAACP activist Medgar Evers. The feature is an enlightening, at times heart-wrenching tribute to one of the lesser-known heroes of the civil rights era.
On the lighter side of things is an interview with illustrator Dyna Moe, who is witty and a good interviewee, but the images are nothing you haven’t seen online. Audio commentaries abound. Kiernan Shipka even appears for “The Arrangements” and is precious but mostly gets talked over by showrunner Matthew Weiner.
