Franchitti wins Indianapolis 500

wreck

After Helio Castroneves took most of the chatter and publicity during the past two weeks, Dario Franchitti quickly showed his dominance in the first few laps of the Indianapolis 500. No one came close to him again, as he led 93 of the first 100 laps, and a large majority of the 200-lap race. This is Franchitti’s second Indianapolis 500 win.

However, for a race dominated by one driver, the race was anything but boring, as cautions and fuel concerns dominated the final laps.

"This tastes just as good second time,” Franchitti said. “Up until 10 laps to go, I was pretty relaxed. Then all hell broke loose with fuel savings and all. I just needed to know what the other guys were doing. If they were saving more than me, they were doing something special here.”

??“This means so much."
