BASKETBALL

The Hoosiers haven’t played in Evansville against the Purple Aces since 1995. Legendary coach Bobby Knight was still roaming the sidelines of Branch McCracken court, and the Hoosiers were less than 10 seasons off of a national championship.

But a lot has changed since then. Now that the Hoosiers are led by Tom Crean and in rebuilding mode, the two teams plan to play again.

A tentative date has not been set, but the game will be played in November 2011 in the Purple Aces’ new 290,000-square-foot arena. A three-game series has been scheduled through 2013-14.

“I have a great deal of respect for Coach Simmons and the Evansville program, and we are excited to begin a series with them,” Tom Crean said. “There is great support for the Hoosiers in the Evansville area, and playing in the new arena in the 2011-12 season will be something special for the fans of both teams.”

The Hoosiers have a 6-0 record all-time against Evansville.

FOOTBALL

Junior wide receiver Tandon Doss has recently been named to the 2010 Biletnikoff Award Watch List. He is the fourth Hoosier in five years to be honored, with former Hoosiers James Hardy named to the list in both 2006 and 2007 and Andrew Means named in 2008.

Doss led the Hoosiers in receptions and receiving yards in nine and eight games, respectively, last season. In yards per game, Doss finished 27th nationally and second in the conference.

The Biletnikoff Award is presented to the top college football receiver each year. The current list will be cut down to 10 semifinalists on Nov. 15 and then down to three on Nov. 22, with the final award given on Dec. 9.

Last year’s Biletnikoff winner was former Notre Dame wide receiver Golden Tate.

TENNIS

The Hoosiers were able to win two titles during the last day of the ITA Summer Nationals this year. Senior Santiago Gruter and junior Jeremy Langer won the men’s doubles championships. Also bringing home a title was freshman Kayla Fujimoto, who won the women’s consolation singles draw.
