Layering is key

It seems to me that somewhere between grabbing a frappuccino and walking to class, I have strolled right into fall.

As much as I love a leaf crunch here and a pumpkin patch there, fall weather has the tendency of keeping you on your toes.

It can be quite the challenge to pinpoint exactly what to wear day-to-day during such a transitional season that gives just as many chilly, gray days as warm, sunny ones.
The rule of wearing layers is still your best option.

It allows you to remove layers as it warms up during the day, and pile them back on once it begins to cool during the evening.

Any Tom, Dick or Kurt Cobain can throw on a flannel shirt over a T-shirt, but I say have fun with your layers by experimenting with different textures and colors.

Try wearing a thick, chunky sweater with a bright colored scarf that complements the knit. Pair it with an oversized cami or T-shirt that gives a laid-back look for class.

Also, instead of going straight into denim mode, consider skirts made of heavier fabrics and pairing them with colored or patterned tights; the look can give you a great mix of chic femininity and functionality.

The trick with layers is looking cool while remaining just as cool under the collar.
