Will Bruin earned perhaps his biggest accolade yet Wednesday.
The junior forward was named National Player of the Week by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the week of Oct. 13.
The honor comes on the heels of Bruin’s third Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award of the 2010 season. He earned the award Monday after scoring two goals in less than two minutes to lead the IU men’s soccer team to a 3-2 upset of then-No. 11 Creighton on Saturday.
Bruin also garnered the weekly conference honor Sept. 6 and Sept. 27.
However, Wednesday’s distinction is the highest honor thus far in 2010 for IU’s leading scorer, who became the first Hoosier since 2005 to tally double-digit goals in a season with his ninth and 10th scores against the BlueJays.
Bruin is in a three-way tie for second in the nation in goals scored.
