Men's tennis to compete in Big Ten singles tournament

The IU men’s tennis team will travel to East Lansing, Mich. this weekend to compete in the Big Ten Singles Championships.

Sophomore Josh MacTaggart will look to repeat as this year’s Big Ten Singles Tournament champion. The then-freshman collected 31 singles wins last season, including 7 conference wins.

MacTaggart became the first Hoosier to win the Big Ten Singles Tournament since 1977 as he defeated Chris Madden of Michigan last season.

Other notables include freshman Dimitrije Tasic and sophomore Isade Juneau.
Tasic, who is in his first year from Serbia, took second place in the top flight at the Indiana Invitational on Sept. 19. Tasic fell after three sets in the event final.

As for Juneau, the sophomore earned a 7th place finish at the Duke Fab 4 on Sept. 18 in Durham, N.C. In that tournament, Juneau defeated Dominic Hodgson of North Carolina State, who was ranked No. 98 by the International Tennis Association. He also defeated Louisville’s Alejandro Calligari in straight sets.

On Oct. 3, Juneau lost in the third round of pre-qualifying at the D’Novo/ITA All-American Championships. Juneau lost to Peter Kobelt of Ohio State,
