Women’s soccer falls to Penn State, 6-1

In the 18-year history of the IU women’s soccer team, the Hoosiers have recorded just one win against Penn State. That win came in the 1996 Big Ten Tournament.

Thursday, the Nittany Lions gave the visiting Hoosiers (5-11-1, 1-7) their worst loss this season with a 6-1 final score.

In the win, Penn State scored three goals in each half.

IU senior forward Darby Hannon scored the only goal for the Hoosiers in the 72nd minute, helping the Hoosiers avoid a shutout.

The Hoosiers will have a strong challenge this weekend in Bloomington. They will play Big Ten conference leader Ohio State, who have lost only three games this season. The game will be 1 p.m. Sunday.
