Local musical groups invited to apply for summer 2011 concert series

The Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department will have an informational meeting at 5 p.m. today in the Hooker Conference Room in City Hall for those interested in applying to perform next summer.

The Performing Arts Series, organized by Kristy LeVert, offers musicians and theatrical groups an opportunity to perform a concert in one of Bloomington’s city parks. The 2011 summer series will begin in May and end in September.

“Our summer series of outdoor concerts and theatrical performances entices both residents and visitors out to enjoy our City parks,” LeVert said in a press release. “Not only does the Performing Arts Series showcase local talent, it also is an opportunity for people to visit with neighbors and build a sense of community.”

The meeting will cover the application process, explain sponsorships and answer questions for the 2011 summer series. The meeting is not mandatory for those interested.

The application deadline is 5 p.m. Dec. 10. Applications will be available at today’s meeting but can also be found online at http://tinyurl.com/37a4ugf.
