Behind Verdell Jones’ offensive outburst and tough defensive play, the IU men's basketball team defeated Wright State, 67-44, on Sunday night at Assembly Hall.
The junior guard paced the Hoosiers with 27 points on 11-of-14 shooting from the field. Sophomore forward Christian Watford picked up his aggressiveness in the second half and finished with 17 points.
And while the Hoosiers (2-0) were able to score at will, they did a good job in not allowing the Raiders (0-1) to do the same.
Wright State struggled from the field, making only 15-of-46 shots (32.6 percent).
IU plays next in a Tuesday night matchup against Mississippi Valley State.
Stay tuned for a complete game wrap.
