IU’s Business Careers in Entertainment Club will strum up some competition for the fifth annual Hoosier Guitar Idol on Sunday.
“We’re looking for talented guitar players around Bloomington and surrounding communities,” BCEC Music assistant director Ravi Ghelani said.
Guitarists from around the area sent in two- to five-minute videos showcasing their abilities, and the selected top 10 will perform at 6 p.m. at Max’s Place, 109 W. Seventh St.
“Last year was a huge turnout — almost 200 people showed up,” Ghelani said.
The contestants will perform three- to four-minute original compositions, and the competition will be slimmed down until the last two will battle for the $100 cash prize and title.
“It gives us experience, putting on our own event,” Ghelani said. “We especially like to get the local community involved.”
