Hoosiers take 23 events at Indiana Open

From IDS reports

In front of a home crowd at Gladstein Fieldhouse, senior Faith Sherrill broke a Big Ten record by heaving the shot put 18 meters (59’-0.75”) on her first toss. This was enough to earn her an NCAA automatic qualifying mark.

Sherrill’s teammate, junior Derek Drouin, continued his dominance as defending NCAA champion high jumper by clearing 2.27 meters (7’-5.35”). In addition to beating the NCAA automatic qualifying mark, the jump tied the national record for this season.

In total, the Hoosiers won 23 events on the day and became national leaders in three events.
