New York spoken word poet Kit Yan will be performing at 7 p.m. Friday at Boxcar Books.
Recently featured in the HBO documentary “Asians Aloud,” the transgender
Chinese American poet has made a tour out of his trip to headline the
National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s “Creating Change” Conference in
Minnesota.
His stop in Bloomington aligns with the weekend’s PRIDE Film Festival events.
Yan has spoken to more than 200,000 people from the 2009 National
Equality March stage and performed on the San Francisco Pride main
stage.
Yan will perform at Boxcar Books before a late performance at the Bloomington PRIDE Film Festival.
He will also be a guest at 6 p.m. Thursday on the bloomingOUT radio show on 91.3 WFHB.
