Throw on a pair of roller skates, some retro gym shorts and your most colorful sweatband while listening to The Go! Team’s newest album, “Rolling Blackouts.” This English band stays true to its uppity indie-rock style in this latest release.
The album’s opener, “T.O.R.N.A.D.O,” has sounds similar to “The Power is On” from the band’s previous album, “Thunder, Lightning, Strike.” “T.O.R.N.A.D.O” immediately sets the tone with its childlike nature and upbeat sound. With strong instrumentals and chanting vocals, The Go! Team’s rhythm draws listeners in and sends them back in time.
The band’s innocent flower power style is especially evident in the album’s fourth track, “Ready to Go Steady.” The song’s light duet and easy beats create a simplicity reflecting that of the ’60s.
Finally, the inspirational sounds of “Back Like 8 Track” create an enticing farewell for the listener.
