If sophomores Tony Adragna and Zach Litzelswope have any say, then organized chants will soon be filling Assembly Hall.
They recently founded Hysterical Hoosiers, a group devoted to creating chants for the student section at men’s basketball games.
Want to learn the chants? Here are four things to know about Hysterical Hoosiers:
1. What’s the purpose?
“We want to make Assembly Hall the most hostile place to play in the country. We think some of our chants are outdated. We want to personalize the chants for each team,” Adragna said.
2. What chants?
The Hysterical Hoosiers will gather chant ideas from students via a twitter page (@HystericalIU), Facebook page and blog. They want students to submit ideas and a chant list will be published prior to each home game.
3. Will the chants be classy?
The chants will be geared for a college crowd, but Litzelswope said the chants will be
kept clean.
“We’re going to keep it classy,” Litzelswope said. “We are not going to get out of hand with it.”
4. How’d the first game go?
The Hysterical Hoosiers gained 500 Twitter followers in four days leading up to Saturday’s IU vs. Northwestern basketball game. The blog post had 3,000 page views.
“We are hoping for the Purdue game we can have even more people on board because that is obviously the most important game left, but we understand Rome wasn’t built in a day,” they said in an e-mail.
