IU to play two doubleheaders

Tough.

Members of the No. 45 IU men’s tennis team couldn’t avoid saying that word when describing this weekend’s home matches, which include a doubleheader Friday against Illinois State and Central Florida followed by a Sunday doubleheader against No. 24 Oklahoma and Toledo.

“They’re all going to be tough matches, especially since we’ve got two matches each day,” sophomore Josh MacTaggart said.

In addition to playing four matches, the Hoosiers will be challenged by Illinois State’s lineup which features a ranked singles player and a top-50 doubles team. The Sooners have two top-40 doubles teams and three singles players ranked in the top 70.

“I know we’re doing a lot of things other teams wouldn’t do,” Bloemendaal said. “But our end goal is to win the Big Ten, and only one team is going to do that, too. So this is going to be tough, but it falls in line with our goals. Our goals are tough.”
