IU's late effort not enough in loss to Michigan

Men's Basketball vs. Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. --- Michigan dominated IU for 35 minutes of Saturday's basketball game.

The last five minutes just wasn't enough for the Hoosiers to catch up.

Michigan's Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 26 points and the Wolverines survived a late 23-4 run by the Hoosiers to win 73-69 at the Crisler Arena.

For much of the game, the Hoosiers struggled - committing 13 turnovers in the game's first 25 minutes and collecting 30 team fouls.

But in the last five minutes, Michigan (16-10, 6-7) shot 8-for-18 from the free throw line which allowed the Hoosiers back into the game.

IU junior guard Matt Roth and sophomore guard Jordan Hulls each missed 3-point attempts in the final minute which would have tied the game at 70.

Instead, Michigan's Darius Morris iced the game with two free throws, and the Hoosiers (12-14, 3-10) dropped their third consecutive game.

Sophomore forward Christian Watford, playing his first game since breaking a bone in his left hand on Jan. 30, led IU with 14 points.
