It’s crunch time for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams. The women take part in the Big Ten Championship next week while 11 men will travel to the OSU Winter Open this weekend to finalize their Big Ten Championship roster.
Eleven swimmers will compete for four spots to fill out the roster of 24.
“Four guys are going to be happy, and the other guys are going to be disappointed in the short term,” IU coach Ray Looze said.
While swimmers count as one roster spot, divers count as half a roster spot.
Last week at the USA Diving Winter Nationals, the IU divers won the NCAA team combined competition as well as the NCAA women’s competition. Freshman Laura Ryan qualified for the Olympic trials in tower and springboard diving.
The men placed fourth in the NCAA division.
