Comedian Sarah Silverman comes to IU Auditorium today

Stories of courage, redemption and pee will be told at the IU Auditorium today when comedian Sarah Silverman stops by as part of her national book tour to promote her new book, “The Bedwetter.”

The show is sponsored by Union Board and will be at 7 p.m.

Silverman began her career as a writer and occasional cast member on “Saturday Night Live.” She has gone on to do multiple comedy specials and has guest starred in a number of films, including “School of Rock,” “Funny People” and “Rent.” She also starred in and produced “The Sarah Silverman Program,” which ran on Comedy Central from 2007 to 2010. She is commonly known for her off-the-wall humor about stereotypes, religions (including her own Jewish faith) and sex.

Wesley McKinney, Union Board comedy director, said when looking for comedians to perform, members wanted someone who could not only relate to a younger audience, but also someone who could target all of campus, not just a certain group.

“Expect to laugh and expect it to be a little edgy,” McKinney said. “But it is going to be a lot of fun.”

Maria Talbert, events manager for the IU Auditorium, said it is great to see a variety of shows put on by student organizations come to the auditorium. She said good seats are still available and can be bought the day of the show. The easiest way to get tickets is to stop by the IU Auditorium box office, she said.

“This show is going to draw a great crowd,” Talbert said.
