“Crysis 2” is trying to swim in a sea of first-person shooters whose waters are infested with competitors such as “Call of Duty,” “Halo” and “Killzone.” “Crysis” has been a franchise that tries to keep itself afloat by means of its graphics, and “Crysis 2” doesn’t disappoint.
Hans Zimmer composing the music proves that he doesn’t just do the “Pirates of the Carribean” theme and the “BWOONG” noise from “Inception.”
The player’s nanosuit is basically RoboCop on steroids, allowing the player to jump amazing heights, turn invisible on a whim and be strong enough to kick a taxi into an enemy’s face.
Up to 12 people can join in a match of the multiplayer’s standard collection of deathmatch and team-based objectives where players can unlock new weapons, equipment and abilities.
For such a well-rounded package, it almost seems unfair that all of this is standard for today’s first-person shooters. There is no question that this a well-made game, but it just seems to lack the spark that the current FPS kings have.
