April 4, 1986, the Kappa Alpha Theta attempted to qualify for the Little 500
race – an all-male collegiate cycling race held in Bloomington.
The riders of Kappa Alpha Theta qualified for the men’s race and their time was posted on the qualifications board. However, throughout the day of qualifications, men’s team qualified with faster times knocking the Theta off the board.
The following April, the Indiana University Student Foundation held the first ever women’s Little 500 race.
