The IU softball team will visit conference rival Penn State University this weekend for a brief two-game series. IU will look to improve on its .500 (2-2) conference record after winning its last Big Ten game, an upset against third-ranked Michigan.
The Hoosiers have won eight of their last 11 games and were led by senior pitcher Morgan Melloh. Melloh has posted a record of 16-14 with a 2.09 ERA while striking out 284 batters in 188 innings. While Melloh has been dominant, the Hoosiers as a team have posted a 1.98 ERA.
The Hoosiers will once again be led at the plate by senior first baseman Sara Olson. She has been on a tear lately after hitting two home runs and knocking in all five runs in the upset against Michigan last Saturday and leading the Hoosiers in hitting, home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage and on-base percentage.
