IU Cinema reduces schedule, to close in July

This week, the IU Cinema will begin its reduced summer hours. Viewings will take place on one or more days between Thursday and Saturday of each week. Viewings will be mostly one per day, with the exception of June 4 and 11.

Those viewings will occur through June, then the cinema will be closed for all of July. It is set to reopen the first week of August, according to a press release.

This week’s scheduled film, “The Princess of Montpensier,” is directed by Bertrand Tavernier and takes place during the religious wars in 16th century France. The film tells the story of a woman forced into marriage even though she loves another man. It competed at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival in 2010 and plays at 7:00 p.m. Thursday May 12, Friday May 13 and Saturday May 14.
