The IU wrestling team released its 2011-12 schedule Aug. 8, including a home match against the national powerhouse University of Iowa Hawkeyes Jan. 6, 2012.
The matchup will be the team’s first Big Ten home match of the season.
Other contests at University Gym include duals with the conference newcomer Nebraska Cornhuskers Jan. 20, 2012, and the rival Purdue Boilermakers Feb. 5, 2012, in the final home dual of the season.
Highlighting the road schedule this season will be the Southern Scuffle tournament Jan. 1 and 2, 2012.
The tournament will be in Chattanooga, Tenn., this season after years of taking place in Greensboro, N.C.
Three of IU’s four NCAA tournament qualifiers and five of ten starters exhausted their eligibility last season.
However, the Hoosiers still return senior All-American Matt Powless, 197 pounds, and senior Matt Ortega, who is likely to start at 133 pounds, for the fourth straight year.
