Since its installation in 1968, a delicately designed bronze sculpture of biblical Adam and Eve has posed among the foliage of Dunn Woods.
That is, until a heavy wind storm in May threatened to separate the first man and woman.
Fallen tree branches caused substantial damage to Adam’s head, ankle and base plate.
The damage forced Sherry Rouse, curator of campus art, to take action.
“Adam was moved after the incident and has been in the museum undergoing repairs since June,” she said.
Rouse added that since Adam is undergoing repairs that will require re-bronzing, Eve will be re-bronzed this winter as well.
“We want to make sure that the two sculptures match,” Rouse said. “Hopefully, we will be able to reinstall the pair in the spring.”
