‘Deep’ sleeping

Dreams can be scary, blissful or just plain weird. Ben Lee, in his newest album “Deeper Into Dream,” explores the feelings and experiences of dreams in a way that captures your imagination. It makes you feel like you should be in a dream.

“My First Dream” is the first track and begins with people talking about their dreams, which describes to the listener the variety and surrealism of dreams. Then, partway through, a background piano thump-thump-thump goes double-time, which leads into the second track of the CD. Throughout the CD, the listener is treated to this otherworldly mix of piano, guitar and electronics.

A sad point to the CD is that it’s not very attention-grabbing. It’s irritating when albums are short, but this album goes on longer than necessary, and sometimes you can hear Lee straining to hit the higher notes. If anything, this album would be great to listen to when trying to fall asleep.
