The Avious Angle
If last season is any indicator of this year’s Stony Brook team, the Hoosiers will need to shut down the Seawolves’ best scoring threat, guard Bryan Dougher.
Named to the preseason All-America East team, Dougher was the only Stony Brook scorer to average double digits last season.
Dougher, who finished the season with 67 assists, 71 turnovers and 34 steals, was a nominee for the 2011 Bob Cousy Award for the best point guard in the country.
IU’s perimeter defense was shaky in its exhibition win against the University of Indianapolis. Guards Adrian Moss and Reece Cheatham combined for 37 points, including 6-of-14 from three-point land. I’ll be interested to see if the defense has improved and can handle the task of guarding Dougher. If not, this game may be closer than expected.
