Facing its toughest test to date, the IU men’s basketball team (6-0) withstood numerous punches from the Butler Bulldogs (3-3) Sunday in a 75-59 victory at Assembly Hall.
The key to IU’s victory was neutralizing Butler’s Chrishawn Hopkins in the second half. The sophomore guard was held without a field goal in the game’s final 18:54.
Sophomore forward Will Sheehey led all scorers with 21 points. He hit three of four shots from three-point land.
After Butler took a 32-31 lead on Hopkins’ final field goal with 18:54 remaining, the Hoosiers ran off four quick points from the foul line.
Senior guard Matt Roth then came off the bench to knock down a three-pointer, and IU never looked back.
The Hoosiers will hit the road Wednesday to take on North Carolina State (5-1) at 7:15 p.m.
