IU opens season with a win against Stony Brook

The IU men’s basketball team kicked off its’ season with a 96-66 win on Friday night at Assembly Hall. The win gives IU it’s 27th consecutive win in home openers and 14th straight in season openers.

Leading the way for IU was sophomore guard Victor Oladipo and freshman forward Cody Zeller with 16 points each.

The Hoosiers were led by a 65.4 (35-for-54) shooting percentage from the field. IU was able to hold Stony Brook to 41.9 percent shooting (26-for-62) to cruise to the 30-point victory.

Zeller registered a double-double. After sophomore forward Will Sheehey lead all scorers with 13 points in the first half, he sat out the second half with “flu-like symptoms.”

IU was 34-52 from the field, 21-24 from the free throw line with 21 assists tonight.
