Hoosiers overcome early deficit to beat Irish, 69-58

Close the Gap

It didn’t have anywhere near the same atmosphere as last Saturday, but the IU (10-0) men’s basketball team ground out a 69-58 win over Notre Dame (7-5) Saturday afternoon at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

After falling behind by nine early in the first half, the IU defense held the Fighting Irish without a field goal for the last 14:32 of the opening half.

Notre Dame was 4-of-20 from the field in the first 20 minutes and finished the game shooting 38 percent from the floor.

Leading the way offensively for the Hoosiers was freshman Cody Zeller with 21 points and eight rebounds.

IU will have two more games before opening up Big Ten play as Howard visits Assembly Hall at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
