Hoosiers fall to Hawkeyes 78-66

After scoring a Big Ten Conference-high 103 points in IU’s first meeting against Iowa, the Hoosiers offense was all but absent on Sunday afternoon.

The No. 18/20 Hoosiers (20-7, 8-7) shot 20-of-53 from the field in route to a 78-66 loss to Iowa (14-13, 6-8) in Iowa City.

IU tried to make things interesting in the second quarter as a 9-0 Hoosiers run cut the Iowa lead to 52-42 with less than eight minutes remaining.

Iowa’s leading scorer Matt Gatens would answer with five three-pointers the rest of the way as he scored a career-high 30 points.

Freshman Cody Zeller recorded his third career double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

The Hoosiers will take a break from Big Ten play on Wednesday as North Carolina Central comes to Assembly Hall for a 7:00 p.m. tip.
