New art exhibits on-campus and in Bloomington

‘Pieces of Eight’
The exhibit can be viewed from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. today only at the McCalla School.
“Pieces of Eight” is a collaboration of artists in the IU Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design Department. The exhibit, which features artists Sara Brown, Anne Fiala, Kyleigh Garman, Katie Hayden, Kimberly Jackson, Galatea Kontos, Sonja Nelson and Kelly Novak, was described as “18 days of collaboration, frustration and finesse” in a press release. Each piece was rotated among the eight artists and created by a variety of found materials, such as natural materials, food and recycled items.

Chiaroscuro Woodcuts

A one-hour exhibition 3 to 4 p.m. today in the IU Art Museum
Part of a series that Bethany Nolan, arts specialist for IU Communications, described as speed dating with the museum.
“The IU Art Museum hosts a series of one-hour exhibitions where, essentially, somebody walks a group through the museum to look at a particular type of art or a certain exhibition,” she said.
This month’s tour shows visitors pieces from the early 20th century by Ugo da Carpi, Antonio da Trento, Andrea Andreani, Hendrik Goltzius, Antonio Maria Zanetti, Nicolas Le Sueur, John Baptist Jackson and Charles Hazelwood Shannon.

School of Fine Arts Group Show

The exhibit will be viewable through Feb. 25 in Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts 123. A free opening reception is from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Works created by first- and second-year master of fine arts students will be featured in the show. Art from each of the school’s 10 mediums will be present: painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, graphic design, digital art, textiles, video, metalsmithing and photography. A show for bachelor of fine arts, non-graduating students will be on exhibit starting Feb. 28.
