Super Bowl XLVI brings interesting facts

On Sunday evening, Indianapolis was the center of attention when the New York Giants defeated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI. Here are some interesting facts about the big game:

The AFC won the coin toss for the first time in 15 years.

Indianapolis is the fourth most-northern site for the Super Bowl, with only Detroit, Minneapolis and Pontiac, Mich., being farther north.

Next year’s game is Feb. 3 in New Orleans.

This year’s proposition bets included which team would score first, the timing of the National Anthem and the color of Gatorade dumped on the winning coach.

More than 1.25 billion chicken wings were consumed Sunday.

Super Bowl XLVI has the third- and second-most tweets per second of all time. There were 10,245 tweets per second during Madonna’s halftime performance and 12,233 per second during the last two minutes of the game.
