The list of accolades continues for freshman forward Cody Zeller.
He earned an honorable mention Associated Press All-America honor on Monday. He is the 42nd Hoosier to share All-American honors and is just the second freshman in school history to earn that honor. Eric Gordon was the first in 2008.
Zeller led IU with 15.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, and he finished the year fourth in the nation in field goal percentage at 62.3 percent (200-of-321).
In the past few weeks, Zeller has begun to haul in the hardware, as he shared Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors with Michigan’s freshman guard Trey Burke.
Zeller was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week seven times and was a Second Team All-Big Ten and All-Freshman honoree. He is also a finalist for the John Wooden and Oscar Robertson National Player of the Year awards, as well as the Wayman Tisdale National Freshman of the Year award.
Michigan State senior Draymond Green and Ohio State sophomore Jared Sullinger were both named to the First Team and represented the only Big Ten players on the three teams, each made up of five players.
Fellow Big Ten players Burke, senior Robbie Hummel (Purdue), senior John Shurna (Northwestern) and senior Jordan Taylor (Wisconsin) joined Zeller as honorable mention recipients.
Cody’s brother Tyler took home Second-Team honors in his final season at North Carolina.
