After falling behind 3-0 in the first 20 minutes of its game Sunday, the IU men’s soccer team failed to muster a successful comeback at Jerry Yeagley Field, falling 5-3 to Bradley in the team’s second match of the spring.
The Braves got on the board early off a goal from freshman Alexei Davies-Campbell fewer than five minutes into the game. After the first two goals of a hat trick from junior Jochen Graf, the Hoosiers saw themselves on the wrong side of a three-goal deficit.
After a call on a shot on goal by IU sophomore A.J. Corrado that would have cut the Bradley lead to two, junior Caleb Konstanski netted one for Indiana, his second goal of the spring, off an assist from Corrado.
Graf got on the board again to complete his hat trick just three minutes into the second half, lengthening the Braves’ lead to 4-1. Junior Aris Zafeiratos pulled Indiana back within two with 18 minutes remaining for his first goal as a Hoosier, but another Bradley goal by sophomore Chris Olivera all but sealed the Hoosiers’ fate.
Sophomore Nikita Kotlov scored a goal in the waning seconds of the game, but it proved to be too little too late.
The Hoosiers continue their spring play at 7:30 p.m. Friday against in-state rival Butler at Jerry Yeagley Field.
