After the IU men’s soccer team’s first spring loss of the season, a 5-3 defeat at the hands of the Bradley Braves this past Sunday, it will play its second game of a three-game home stand Friday against in-state rival Butler.
Caleb Konstanski, a junior defender from Bloomington, has been the leader of the offensive attack two games into the spring season, recording a goal in each of the Hoosiers’ first two matches.
Friday’s match will be the third time the Indiana foes have faced off in the past two seasons. The Hoosiers and the Bulldogs have split the past two games, with each team winning on the other’s home turf.
Butler defeated Indiana 4-1 in 2010 in Bloomington, and IU won 1-0 during the 2011 regular-season game in Indianapolis.
The match will also be the second game for sophomore midfielder Jamie Vollmer against his former team.
Vollmer played his freshman year at Butler, where he played in 19 matches, including four starts, and recorded two assists and six shots.
In his inaugural game against his former teammates this past season, Vollmer recorded two shots.
The Hoosiers and Bulldogs will face off at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bill Armstrong Stadium on Jerry Yeagley Field.
