The Indiana Hoosier men’s golf team got off to a slow start Thursday, shooting a 298, 10 shots over par. They are currently sitting in ninth place, 15 shots behind regional leader, Liberty. To advance to the finals, the Hoosiers will need to finish in the top-5. After 18 of 54 holes, they are just four stokes from the fifth place spot.

“We got off to a really slow start and had some difficult holes early on that we didn’t handle as well as we should have,” Head Coach Mike Mayer said in a press release. “It wasn’t one of our best rounds, but with that being said, we are only five shots out of third.
All we need to do is play the way we know we are capable of playing tomorrow and we’ll be right in the thick of things come Saturday in the final round.”

There were some positives to take from the round. Junior Brant Peaper, lead
the field in par 3 hole scoring, averaging 2.50 shots and was -2. Senior David
Erdy and junior Corey Ziedonis, each with five birdies, were tied for second most.
Ziedonis lead the Hoosiers, shooting 71, 1-under par
