After a year away from home, “The Space Between: Adam and Eve,” a set of bronze statues depicting the biblical couple, is again nestled in the trees of Dunn’s Woods.
During a large windstorm in May 2011, the statue of Adam was hit by a falling oak tree , and the figure suffered injuries to its head and ankle.
The platform upon which he stood was also damaged. Eve survived the incident without a scratch but was removed with Adam to be refurbished.
The statue was created by Jean Paul Darriau and installed on IU’s campus in the 1960s.
The statues cost $14,500 to be repaired by Venus Bronze Works of Detroit. However, insurance covered most of the cost.
