UPDATE
Recent graduate Margaux Farrell swam the second leg of the women's preliminary 4x200 freestyle relay for Team France Wednesday morning, helping her team to a third place finish in the first heat and a spot in the finals.
Farrell swam a 100-meter split of 2:00.06 in the preliminaries and Team France a combined time of 7:47.49, 4.57 seconds behind the first place U.S.
While Farrell took a break during the finals, France won bronze with a time of 7:47.49.
EARLIER
Making his Olympic debut, senior IU swimmer Nicholas Schwab won his heat in the men’s 200-meter freestyle on Sunday at the Aquatics Centre in London.
Schwab, who is representing his native Dominican Republic, won the heat with a time of 1:53.41, good for 36th overall.
With Schwab’s debut in the books, two more Hoosier swimmers are set to swim in their first events of the 2012 London Olympics. Recent graduate Margaux Farrell will swim the 4x200 freestyle relay for France on Wednesday, while sophomore Dorina Szekeres of Hungary will swim the 200 backstroke on Thursday.
