Previous Student Involvement Fairs have been so successful that Student Life and Learning officials sought out a new venue for Wednesday’s fair, SLL intern Rebecca Aleman said.
“We outgrew our old location in the parking lot,” Aleman said. “More organizations were wanting to get involved, and we needed a bigger space.”
This year’s fair will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday in Dunn Meadow.
The fair will still offer students the opportunity to sample different student organizations, local nonprofit agencies and University departments.
“At this point, we have just about 330 student organizations registered,” Aleman said.
About 50 IU departments and 45 other community organizations will have tables.
New to the fair is a raffle-type giveaway for students in attendance.
Students will have the opportunity to fill a “passport” with stickers from various groups represented at the fair.
“If they get a sticker from different organizations’ tables,” she said, “they will be submitted to be in a drawing for a lot of cool stuff.”
WIUX will also broadcast live from the event and allow student organizations to showcase themselves with short performances or speeches.
